The current map I'm working on has four rotating doors (in particular) running horizontal and all 4 open from the left hand (South) side...

Sorry to pull you up matey, although when viewing Radiant in top view one would think North was top of the grid, it's not. Gawd only knows why that is.
In game anything North is on the left hand...
